Acton Capital leads Series A in HomeToGo, metasearch engine for vacation rentals

by | April 8, 2015

Munich/Berlin/London, April 8, 2015 – HomeToGo, the independent metasearch for holiday homes and vacation rentals, announced an investment round led by international growth equity investor Acton Capital Partners and global early and growth stage venture firm DN Capital. The investment will be used to strengthen the dynamic growth of the company both domestically and internationally. Prior to this, a number of well-known business angels have already provided capital for HomeToGo.

HomeToGo is the worldwide metasearch engine for vacation rentals allowing holidaymakers to easily find their dream accommodation for the best price. HomeToGo searches worldwide offers of the best providers according to the users’ individual wishes. The results are shown clearly and the rentals on offer can be filtered and compared according to their prices as well as additional criteria. The time-consuming online search on different websites is therefore a thing of the past. Users can thus easily find their ideal accommodation and book with the provider offering the best prices.

HomeToGo was founded in January 2014. Within less than a year, the Berlin-based company managed to integrate more than 150 providers into their search engine, amongst which are Interhome, Novasol, Interchalet, and Casamundo.

At one glance, users get a large choice of vacation rentals in more than 200 countries. HomeToGo therefore provides a consolidated overview within a very fragmented market.

Behind the Berlin-based start-up is the founding trio Patrick Andrä, Wolfgang Heigl and Nils Regge. The team has extensive expert knowledge in the travel technology, tourism and e-commerce sectors. Wolfgang Heigl founded the flight search engine Swoodoo, which was acquired by KAYAK, part of the Priceline Group. Nils Regge is the founder of the vacation rental portal Casamundo, which was sold to the Dutch @Leisure group, in which Axel Springer is now the majority shareholder.

Frank Seehaus, Managing Partner at Acton, supported already the European travel platform HolidayCheck on its way to market leadership: “We see great potential for HomeToGo: meta search has already proven successful in other segments of the tourism industry. Applying this business model to the growing market of vacation rentals provides a great value proposition to the consumer.”

“There is an excellent team behind HomeToGo, with in-depth experience and a strong execution capability.”

“We are excited to back the experienced and ambitious team at HomeToGo as they look to take on the billion-dollar fragmented tourist vacation rental market. We hope that with DN’s deep network and international reach, we can help them expand to become global leaders in the space,” adds Tom Bradley, Partner at DN Capital.

Patrick Andrä, CEO HomeToGo: “It is great that we found investors who see the great potential that our business idea offers. For us it is very important to have partners at our side with whom to build an internationally successful company. Working together will give us the option to increase our offer and to expand into other markets.”
